Position Overview:

Mizar Therapeutics is seeking an experienced and diligent Research Scientist to join our team. The ideal candidate is a capable researcher and technician who will contribute to our pioneering developments in imaging, data-science, super-resolution microscopy, molecular biology, tissue culture, and drug discovery. This position is designed to be roughly 80% in person, and 20% remote work. Please consider applying if you thrive in community and collaboration with like-minded professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Molecular Biology Techniques:
    • Perform DNA and RNA extractions, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and other molecular biology assays.

    • Assist in cloning experiments, plasmid preparation, and gene expression analysis.

    • Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures and results.

  • Mammalian Tissue Culture:
    • Cultivate and maintain mammalian cell lines, ensuring optimal growth conditions.

    • Prepare cell culture media, handle cell passages, and monitor cell viability.

    • Execute experiments involving cell-based assays and drug screening.

  • Lab Maintenance and Organization:
    • Order and manage laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables.

    • Regularly inspect and maintain lab equipment.

    • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth lab operations.

  • Data Collection and Analysis:
    • Record experimental data, analyze results, and prepare reports.

    • Contribute to scientific publications and presentations.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry).

  • One year of relevant laboratory experience.

  • Familiarity with molecular biology techniques (PCR, gel electrophoresis, etc.).

  • Proficiency in tissue culture (cell lines, media preparation, cell passages).

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
